Exactly five years after that argument at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party, where Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan engaged in a bitter battle of words and ended up ruining their friendship of many years, the two Khans have finally made peace. At Baba Siddiqui's Iftaar in Bandra, Salman and Shah Rukh hugged each other and signaled an end to the 'Khan-War'. Going by the footage that has been leaked, it seems Salman made the first move and went up to SRK to hug him.
Over the past few years, this cold war has divided the film industry into two camps, and this controversy had become fodder for a lot of unpleasant gossip between the sides. A lot of other actors too took advantage of this clash by associating themselves either of the two Khans.
The two superstars also took repeated digs at each
other during several promotions (though this had stoppd in recent
months). While the families of the two stars always remained cordial
with each other, the two Khans made it a point to not cross each other’s
paths.
Be it at airports, parties or even film sets, the staff on both sides followed this unwritten rule and planned schedules accordingly.
The fluctuating performances of SRK’s films coupled with Salman’s dream run at the box office further added fuel to fire.
SRK and Salman have clashed and patched up in the early 2000s as well; but this time the wounds seemed far deeper. However to quote a line from the third Khan’s movie it looks like all izz well for now. Even if they don't go back to becoming best of friends again, the bitterness surely seems to have ended.
Salman is currently awaiting the verdict of his hit-and-run case, while SRK has a very high-stakes release lined up next month.
And in such stressful times for both these actors, it looks like Karan and Arjun could not resist reaching out to each other.
We can already imagine studio bosses smiling in joy and planning mega ventures with the two Khans in the lead. Can we expect an announcement soon? Watch this space. As of now this patch up is dominating mainstream as well as social media, with terms such as #SalmanHugsSRK and Salman and SRK topping trends.
