African Films Development Awards is a project of African Film
Development Foundation aimed at celebrating and recognising outstanding
individuals and bodies who have contributed towards the development of
African Cinema.
The awards project is dedicated to promoting,identifying and celebrating excellence within the African Film Industry.
This year’s awards will be held in Dar es Salaam on Saturday 29 June
2013 at the prestigious Hyatt Regency with a lecture on African Cinema
and Film Viewing prior to the awards day.
African Film Development Foundation is passionate at developing film
culture in Nigeria, for an Africa film oriented audience and market
niches.
SYNOPSIS
The awards will celebrate individuals/Governments/Corporate bodies
with outstanding contributions towards sustaining and developing African
Cinema.
30 awards will be presented to recipients from nomination category.
6 awards will be presented on special recognition from the non nomination category.
A lecture on African Cinema with a panel selected across Africa and
hollywood consisting of top filmmakers,film
promoters,distributors,critics and will take place at the US Embassy
Tanzania on friday 28 june 2013.
This lecture will be divided into 2 sessions of 9am – 12noon (Lecture)
12noon – 1pm (Break)
1pm – 4pm (Interactive session with filmmakers)
African Night
A night of African music,food and cultures to entertain guests and
will be hosted by the minister of culture,Tanzania at the residence of
the minister.(Recipients and special guests only)

AWARDS CEREMONY/GALA NITE
Recipients and guests will be treated to a 5 star African
hospitality.The event will begin at 6pm with Red Carpet and awards
proper starts 8pm.
The event will honour filmmakers,government officials,corporate
bodies and legendary black filmmakers Morgan Freeman and Whoopie
Goldberg.
