The largest and leading fashion event in East and Central Africa, Swahili Fashion Week has officially announced the nominated names and voting process for the SWAHILI FASHION WEEK AWARDS 2012 (SFWA).
Following the great success of last year, the Swahili Fashion Week Awards 2012 to remark fifth anniversary has undergone exciting development resulting in the addition of 3 new categories to existing ones from last year; thus increasing the number of categories to 15 from 12 last year.
The categories of this year include: Best Male Model, Best Female Model, Best East African Model (New), Designer of the Year, East African Designer of the Year, Redd’s Stylish Female Personality, Stylish Male Personality, Innovative Designer, Best Men’s Wear, Fashion TV Program of the Year (New), Vodacom Fashion Blog of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year, Fashion Journalist of the Year, Best East African Journalist (New), Upcoming Designer.
The voting process is powered by Push Mobile where by voter has to vote by writing Nominee’s code to 15678 and all votes will be audited by PKF. The winners of these awards will be announced on the third day of Swahili Fashion Week, Saturday 8th December, 2012 at Golden Tulip Hotel, Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

Swahili fashion week 2012 has been sponsored by Vodacom, USAID Compete, Origin Africa, EATV, East Africa Radio, Golden Tulip Hotel. Swahili Fashion Week is the largest annual fashion platform in East and Central Africa, to date. Now In its fifth year, Swahili Fashion Week is now the platform for fashion and accessory designers from Swahili Speaking Countries and the African continent to showcase their talent, market their creativity and network with clientele. This is all aimed at emphasizing to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry, whilst promoting “Made in Africa” concept.
Having initiated a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in the region, Swahili Fashion Week is now geared towards being the most sought out after fashion platform in Africa for the international market founded, created and conceptualised in year 2008 by Mustafa Hassanali.

As of 2013, Swahili Fashion Week will be a Bi-Annual Event, with Kenyan Edition to be Held during the first Half of the year and the Main event to be held in the later half, in Tanzania.
