Maya Mia(32) is currently one of world's famous make up artists especially on social media. She has been living in Tanzania for more than 10 years after she got married to a Tanzanian guy living in Dar es saam. Her country of origin is Macedonia and she grew up there until she got married and relocated to Tanzania in 2004.
Maya is the one seen in all these photos, and according to Maya through You Tube videos she posted, she learnt Swahili language when she started living here and now she speaks stellar Swahili like other Tanzanians.
She says when she came to Tanzania she opened Maya Vintage Boutique and make up studio in Dar es salaam in 2004, she discovered she is the only professional make up artist by that time. People wondered why they should use make up. But continues saying that the make up industry in Tanzania has grown today as there are many make up artists compared to 10 years ago when she landed Tanzania for the first time.
Maya says she liked being make up artist since childhood and she learnt from other make up artists and and also self efforts made her more experienced and professional make up artist.
She started it for free but later on those who wanted her services increased so she started to charge them. Her first Tanzanian celeb to work with was singer Lady Jaydee about 10 years ago, she was then featured in some Tanzanian media so celebs started to know her and they started needing her services for magazine and album covers. She has also worked with Vanessa Mdee and she is her close friend too.
Maya reveals saying that few years ago she didn't see any importance of being on social media but people persuaded her so she started social media account on instagram, she followed some few fellow make up artists but when she started posting her own photos many people started liking and commenting, they increased everyday and her followers started asking her to have You Tube channel for tutorial. And today she has more than 1.5 million followers on instagram and and more than 800,000 followers on her you tube account .

Maya Mia says that when her instagram and You Tube followers started to increase various beauty and cosmetics companies started working with her by sending their products to her to review, and it became beneficial to her since Tanzania hadn't many big make up shops.
With her 1.5+ million followers on instagram and more than 800,000 followers on You Tube, Maya is more popular than Diamond Platnumz and Wema Sepetu on social media.
Maya also organizes make up workshops in various countries and recently she was in Kuwait for make up workshop.
Maya's story shows us how social media can change our lives since she gets enough cash from You Tube adsense, direct ad on her instagram account, international companies pay her to review their beauty products. let alone direct earnings from her make up studio. Be inspired
