After 2 Successfull Decades In Theatre Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge To Go Off.

Bollywood’s superhit jodi Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s romantic film – ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge’- has been running at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai for the past 990 weeks, which makes almost two decades now.
The bible of romance is set to make a heroic record in December this year, as it will complete 1000 weeks in the theatre.

The morning 11.30 am show of the film still runs to packed house and it had around 1000 people watching it till yesterday. However, Managing Director of Maratha Mandir, Manoj Desai and Yash Raj Films are considering to pull the film off screen after it completes 1000 weeks in December.
“Manoj Desai and Yash Raj Films will sit together to decide whether to run the film further or not as it will set a huge record in December by completing 1000 weeks. The decision to run the film further or not will not depend on the profit or loss as the show till today manages to attract decent amount of people.
The decision will totally depend on the stakeholders and Yash Raj,” Manoj Pandey, manager of Maratha Mandir, told IndianExpress.com. The magic of the evergreen romance, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge’, that released way back in 1995, keeps pulling audiences back to the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai ever since its release.
DDLJ has become the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema, as it passes one milestone after another, and is presently running in its 990th week. In 2013, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was also voted people’s most favourite feature film from the past 100 years of Indian cinema in a poll conducted by Sanona, the UK’s largest online Pay Per View (PPV) Indian movie streaming service.
‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was among the first Indian films to be produced with the large and rich South Asian diaspora in the West as its target audience.
