MOVIE REVIEW: BAAMED

FILM : Baamed(Barmaid)
CAST : Nice Mohamed, Irine Uwoya, Shilole, Khadija Kopa
DIRECTOR: Ismail Mkungo
RATING: 2.5/5

Life is tough in the busy city so two sisters  Irine Uwoya and Shilole become prostitutes and then barmaids so that they can live in town and eventually they get HIV . life becomes even worse after the  bar owner dies suddenly, so the two sisters pretend to be university students so as to get "hungry men" easily and that plan becomes successful as Nice Mohamed and Lumole Motovolwa fall into Irine's hands. Nice ends being HIV positive as a university student.

Well, good story but poor screenplay, bad lighting, poor cinematography and even poor direction, the part 1 of the film shows all these. Irine Uwoya was  normal despite being expected to do wonders in the film, Shilole was too talkative but lacked acting skills in the film. Yes, Hadija Kopa is the best taarabu singer and a good dancer but failed  to essay her role as a tenant. Oh... !The graduation gown worn by Irine Uwoya.!...looked like a blouse from Kariakoo !. OK the drunkard delivered something needed appreciation, good performance. Mtunis and Lumole Motovolwa were good too. Mtunis' film stories are good but lack tight screenplay often. Anyway find and watch it you might enjoy watching the bold scenes from Irine Uwoya and Shilole's drama.
